Results are in from this year’s annual meeting! We welcome in a new board of directors with a good mix of existing and fresh leadership. Please join me in welcoming them!
- Logan Pajunen – President
- John Alexander – Vice President
- Tracy Hoover – Treasurer
- Kip Landwehr – Secretary
- Barb Davis – Director At-Large
- Christian Kindel – Director At-Large
- Curt Gridley – Director At-Large
- James Lancaster – Director At-Large
- Dominic Canare – Immediate Past President
If you’re paying close attention, you probably noticed that our board has grown by 2 at-large directors and we’ve added a position for the Immediate Past President. These changes allow our leadership to grow in pace with our membership and afford greater continuity through transition.
I’d like to give a special thanks to some of our outgoing directors.
- As a founding member, Jens Torell has served the maximum 3 consecutive years on the board in multiple elected officer roles. Jens, your vision, personal demeanor, and perseverance has served as a model for me for as long as I’ve known you. Obviously, I’m grateful for everything you’ve done for MakeICT, but I want to especially thank you for everything you’ve done for me personally. I’ll never be able to express how thankful I am to have met you four years ago, but I hope you know how much I mean it.
If I can help you with that quadcopter, let me know!
- Dustin Richey has served as our Treasurer for the past year and wrote the sustainability plan which has been crucial to our organization during this time of incredible growth. Dustin brought business-sense and high-level organization to the board, and without that we would not have been able to grow as we have. Dustin, thanks for keeping us sane and taking the duties that nobody else wanted, and for doing a better job than any of us could have ever achieved.
- Tom McGuire, another founding member, is not changing positions, but the MakeICT Makerspace Program Director position no longer holds a seat on the board. Besides being the epitome of the modern maker, Tom takes on so many duties for our organization that are easily and often taken for granted or too behind-the-scenes to be noticed by many. Thank you, Tom, for always being there to make sure we’re keeping up no matter how far or fast MakeICT is moving.
- Likewise, Seth Etter, a founding member of devICT and Open Wichita, will continue his efforts, but no longer holds a seat on the board. Seth, your enthusiasm is contagious and inspiring, and although the competition for your attention is high, I’m looking forward to more opportunities to collaborate with you directly.
If there’s any part of MakeICT that you enjoy, please don’t miss an opportunity to share your gratitude to these individuals. The massive volume of work they have contributed and continue to give is immeasurable, and I’ll always owe a debt for the incredible personal support they’ve provided to me.
From my heart, thank you.
